This module aims to equip students with knowledge and skills of managing business information using spreadsheets. This module will address issues on business information management with spreadsheets. Knowledge and skills on how to design for the efficient use of spreadsheets will also be covered. This includes for example spreadsheet principles, formulas, manipulating data sets,
modelling information, graphic visualisation, scenario-testing, and spreadsheets for decision-making. The principles of spreadsheets will be taught rather than using specific brand-name products, with a preference for open source products.

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this module is 150 hours typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The module requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
