In Greek, ‘Philosophy’ means ‘love of wisdom.’ Philosophers use the tools of logic and reason to analyse the ways in which we experience the world in which we live. By studying Philosophy and Ethics at Monash South Africa, you will acquire the internationally desirable skills of critical thinking, clear writing, and logical analysis. Different areas of philosophy are distinguished by the questions they ask. Do our senses accurately describe reality? What makes wrong actions wrong? How should we live? These are philosophical questions, and philosophy teaches the ways in which we should examine these questions. The kinds of questions philosophers ask are of interest to all of us because we all ask the same questions.
