Students can only engage in practice from their second year. First year practicums are utilised for orientation regarding placement skills required from the second year of study. This first practicum module will focus on induction to the experiential learning modules to follow.


  • Clarify and list expectations of experiential learning.
  • Journal personal anxieties and assumptions.
  • Reflect on the context of experiential learning.

Examination/Summative assessment: 50%

Workload requirements

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this module is 50 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The module requires on average one/two hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
