On-campus block of classes
The module is aimed at providing the students with the ability to perform standard mathematical calculations in an accurate and logical way. It introduces them to the fundamental concepts of calculus that form the bases of calculations that are being often used to solve problems in engineering science. This is achieved by providing the students with a good conceptual and visual understanding of the fundamentals of the mathematics of differential and integral calculus together with the appropriate techniques that can be used to apply the knowledge of the fundamentals in solving complex mathematical problems.
On completion of the module, students will be expected to be able to:

Coursework assessment: 30%
To equip the students with basic mathematical concepts of differential and integral calculus so that at the later stage of their engineering education they can be able to apply this knowledge to solve mathematical problems in an effective and precise manner. There will be a combination of lectures, that will include interactive elements, and tutorial work that will be done on an individual basis. All outcomes will be assessed by means of tutorials, class tests and a final examination.
